| Notes from a Londoner
Aghast! Not another piece on the great big stadium move debate!?! Im afraid so... If you are groaning with boredom, I would like to point out my article includes the words Nazi, Brazilian, Pikey and Bap! My spectacles are not rose-tinted, Im just a footballing purist and though maybe I over romanticise about pre-Premiership football, any football in whatever state of affairs compared to a game that alienated its core support for corporate gain must have been better. Neil Webb or no Neil Webb. Football concerned a people in their thousands watching 11 men achieve and fail on a stage be it local, be it world. It survived within its own circle of influence; through this, its soul grew and legends were made, revered and passed into folklore. Now, stadia are extensions of TV studios and the fans are mere extras for the benefit of viewers.
Soccer: Hapoel TA beats Glasgow Rangers 2:1 in UEFA Cup
VIDEO - Hapoel Tel Aviv denied Rangers the chance to become the first Scottish side to go 13 matches unbeaten in Europe with a 2-1 win in the first leg of their UEFA Cup last 32 clash on Wednesday. Baruch Dego's 73rd-minute strike ensured Rangers were beaten for the first time in any competition since Walter Smith returned to the manager's chair last month, Nacho Novo having earlier cancelled out a stunning first-half free-kick by Hapoel's Salim Toama. Despite their indifferent domestic form, Rangers have proved surprisingly resilient in Europe since their unbeaten run began in October 2005. And there was nothing in the opening 40 minutes to suggest that it was about to come to an end. .
